The Runes of Speaking

Many generations ago, before the cataclysm that brought about the fall of the great empires, each kingdom possessed a set of powerful magical runes. When arranged carefully, by one with the proper knowledge, the runes could be used to communicate across long distances in a nearly instantaneous manner.

Since that time, the power of the runes has waned to such an extent that only the briefest of messages may be sent in a given period of time. The usefulness of this ancient artifact is still impressive, however, and many a ruler still employs them in communicating with other kingdoms.

In Game Terms

Each turn your kingdom may send a message to any kingdom that they have become aware of (either via a high vigilance, through exploration edicts, or by being sent a message). Any kingdom that has received a message from you automatically becomes aware of your kingdom and may respond in kind, but gains no knowledge as to how you came to know their location. Nor do they gain any knowledge of your location.

These messages may send a kingdom only one message per turn and that message must be no longer than 10 words. Similarly, those words that you use must be taken from the word-list outlined below. There is no limit to the number of different kingdoms that you may send a message to. Only the number of messages to an individual kingdom is limited.

Word Lists

Special Note: Each race has a set of words that they are allowed to use that set them apart and give them a feeling of uniqueness. No other race is permitted to use these words. Every race may still use the proper name of every other race (such as human, kobold, elf, halfling etc.).
