This section is for computer games that we play as a group.

Civilization V

Civilization V[1], Available through Steam[2], is a 3X game chronicling the rise of civilization from its early origins in the stone and bronze age all the way (theoretically) through the modern era and beyond. It supports up to 12 players.

Server

I had been running a pitboss server for this game, but over half the players dropped the game abruptly, which sort of defeats the purpose (and frequently players weren't taking turns anyway, which not only substantially delayed the game, but also made it substantially more pointless).

ARTEMIS Spaceship Bridge Simulator

Ryecatcher15 owns a license for ARTEMIS Spaceship Bridge Simulator. It is a spaceship bridge simulation multiplayer game that supports a maximum of thirty players now something like 48 players, but typically requires at least five, preferably six.

The first update to version 2.0 is coming out relatively soon, and is slated to add a number of features.

Quintet

Quintet is more flexible than Artemis, running on more platforms and with a more highly variable number of players. It's also more of an action game, however, and is somewhat confusing by comparison. It does, however, have a larger selection of ships and a lot more opportunity for multiplayer variation.

Very intriguing.

Starship Horizon

Starship Horizons is an upcoming one that looks relatively promising, especially considering that it is designed to played through browsers. Its release is still pending, however.

Other Bridge Simulators

There are a slew of other upcoming or released spaceship bride simulators, possibly prompted in part by Artemis falling out of active development.

Star Citizen looks interesting, although it's really more of a flight simulator / MMO.

Spaceteam

Spaceteam is a cooperative shouting game. It supports 4 players in standard mode and up to 16 in the experimental massive multiplayer mode.

Available for Android and iOS for no money or a small amount of money if'n you're so inclined. We should really play this more - it's a great game.

Terraria

Ryecatcher15 runs a Terraria server. It is a semi-free-form exploration and construction game and supports eight players fairly comfortably.

Server

No Terraria Server is currently online. If there was substantial call for one, I could create it, but that doesn't seem to be the case, so...

At any rate, the final update to Terraria is inbound soon, and there's been substantial interest in playing it because it is cool.

Starbound

Ryecatcher15 runs a Starbound server. It is a semi-free-form exploration and construction game and supports an unknown number of players (limited by server capacity and difficult to know given that the game is in Beta stage). Development is pretty active, and a native linux server is provided to ensure ongoing client / server parity. It does, however, have planned wipes and resets as development continues. Unfortunately, Chucklefish feels "demoralized" by getting paid for the produce when it was still alpha, but having to deliver a full product. Sucks to be them, eh? Either way, we're the ones who must suffer an incomplete product while they get their shit together.

Server

No server currently running. I just don't run servers as much these days for some reason.

Castle Crashers

Castle Crashers is a beat'em'up available on Steam. It supports up to four players at a time and makes an adequate party game.

Risk of Rain

Risk of Rain is a run and gun style roguelike shooter game available on Steam, and a fairly good party game that supports up to 4 local players or up to 10 online.

Crawl

Crawl is a dueling dungeon crawl game for up to four local players. In it, one player begins as an adventurer, whilst the others take the role of monsters and traps within a dungeon. When a monster or trap deals a deathblow to the adventurer, they get a turn taking on the role of the adventurer. It's an excellent party game, but sadly supports only up to 4 players.
