The Augusta Uprising was a violent Ghoul Uprising that took place in 1942. The uprising was orchestrated by Ghouls of Italian and German-American Heritage, and led by Bertoldt Mulner - a German ghoul whose regnant died . The uprising was planned in secret in two stages.

The first involved the Ghouls finding likely co-conspirators. This was facilitated largely because immigrant populations were viewed as easy to recruit as ghouls without the support structure most Americans had. A surprisingly large number could be convinced with little difficulty that taking action against the Vampire community would be beneficial to them AND their sires. Bertoldt convinced a large number of ghouls that he knew where all the Vampire were, but would need information to keep their Sires safe. Ghouls who refused to give the information or who resisted the plan were killed.

The second stage was a single day of coordinated strikes against the Vampires of the city. Bertoldt struck the first regnant without his ghoul, and, when satisfied that he had met Final Death, invited his ghoul to kill the next regnant (omitting his ghoul). Thereafter, they could continue the raids, bringing every ghoul on each, save the one whose regnant they were killing. Only two of the ghouls resisted this plan, and they were killed by the remaining ghouls without difficulty.

By the end of the day, 21 Vampires had met Final Death, and 26 ghouls were now free agents. From the dead Vampires, they had gathered almost three gallons of Vitae to sustain their existence. For reasons not yet fully understood, the ghouls were then wiped out by a coalition of Mages and Werewolves working together.
