The Court of New York

The Five Boroughs of New York have traditionally been apportioned as Duchies to the Five Covenants in a tradition dating back over 200 years. The Five Dukes are the only Kindred who may be considered for the position of Prince and while, ultimately, the method of selecting the Prince is theoretically flexible, only the Dukes may become Prince. Historically, every Prince of New York has been Invictus.

Apart from the Invictus Duke, who has always held the highest position of power in the local Invictus power structure, the Dukes have historically never been the leaders of their Covenants, which may be part of the difficulty they have had in overcoming reluctance to undergo a change in leadership - fear that the Prince will have his actions dictated by his Covenant rather than doing what is right for the city as a whole.

The Dukes are in charge of ensuring that matters within their duchy are properly cared for.

Archbishop Maxwell Sinclair is the Lancea et Sanctum Duke of the Bronx.

Duke Charles Dexter is the Carthian Duke of Brooklyn.
