Briar

Briar the magic sword, is believed to have been created from Nyrissa's love, possibly as punishment for her love for Count Ranlac, one of the Eldest who was banished from the First World to the realm of shadow for allegedly unrelated reasons. Nyrissa's love was removed and forged into the blade, with which she seeks reunion. The Nereid Evindra has suggested that being reunited with her love would destroy Nyrissa, as she would almost certainly die of grief from what happened to her lover Ranlac. Thus, the Eldest may have extracted Briar in an act of perverse mercy.

It is unknown what properties Briar has, or even what form it takes. It has been described as a "blade," possibly a bastard sword.
