Sunshine Grey
Sunshine Grey is a Ghoul within the Wod:Dead Man Walking setting. She is played by ThePinupGhoul.
Background
Sunshine, prior to her initiation to the world of the undead, was a young opera singer who kept to herself. Her mother had recently left the state for a job transfer, and her father had taken on new familial responsibilities elsewhere. Because of this, Sunshine spent most of her time with her friends, often packing extra clothing in her large purse and sleeping on their couches. She held a part-time job in a supermarket bakery that often left her exhausted and overwhelmed by human idiocy.
When the incident with Colin occurred, Sunshine, though frightened, remained polite and optimistic, and quickly became friends with Orpheus.
As time wore on, and strange incidents increasingly led her friends on strange and magnificent personal journeys, Sunshine became frustrated and lonely due to her lack of power and agency in her own life. After being preyed on by Lysander, and hurt by Orpheus's growing indifference (and possible death), Sunshine began to seek companionship elsewhere.
Appearance
Sunshine is a pretty young woman standing just over five feet tall. She has a pronounced hourglass figure, wavy auburn hair, and soft Mediterranean facial features. Although not athletic, Sunshine is sturdy and strong, and can hold her own in physical conflicts.
Notable Skills
- Sunshine will occasionally experience significant dreams. Rarely prophetic, but symbolic in nature, they allow her to make clearer decisions in her waking life as the symbols in her dreams usually explain underlying phenomena not visible in the waking world.
- Sunshine is not automatically unnerved by the presence of supernatural beings. Most notably, she is not preternaturally afraid of members of the clan Nosferatu, even long before being initiated as a Ghoul. Powers that are based on the unnerving appearance or presence of an intelligent supernatural creature have a penalty when turned against Sunshine.
Involvement in DMW
After she was initiated as a ghoul, Sunshine's activities became more focused on ensuring that her Regnant continued to thrive despite the tensions between Carthians and Invictus in the area. This came to a head when the Carthian Ultraloyalists declared Horace an "enemy of the state" for his unwillingness to compromise his integrity to favor the Carthians.
Relationships
Sunshine is something of a peacemaker in general. While she's not above fighting by any means, she prefers to turn her ire on mindless beasts and and those too evil to be reasoned with. She made friends with both Leo Kent and Eric Roe despite the two's animosity for one another. She was, on several occasions, even able to make them behave in a civilized manner.
Sunshine has an affinity for Nosferatu, but is terrified of the Galloi, owing to their rituals involving bathing in blood (which frighten and disgust her).
Trivia and Errata
- Sunshine has long had an interest in toxicology. She enjoys, among many hobbies, researching various neurotoxins that can be made with domestic plants. She has used them on others with varying degrees of success.
- Sunshine possesses significantly less patience and restraint than her Regnant and more experienced Ghouls. Her lack of experience and naïvete regarding the world of the undead can make her appear foolish to her colleagues and superiors. On several occasions, this has worked in her favor, as other Ghouls and Kindred may not see her as a threat, or may not feel the need to conceal secrets in her presence.
