Session 21

The party defeated the junk golem and met its creator, who was a cleric of Brigh. She said that she had been fleeing the Technic League for 40 years and presumed that the party was either sent by them or one of the local gangs, who had become much more aggressive in claiming territory. She advised the party that the remains of the junk golem are worth about 100gp in copper. Copper is used frequently in technological applications, and thus has significant value, but creating a new golem would not be exceptionally expensive, just annoying and time consuming.

They discussed the gang activity (especially the actions of the Smilers) and how Hellion had shifted the external focus of the city to a more insular antisocial one. Poing told her of his plans to subvert Hellion with the soul data collected. "I filled it with junk data," he explained. She seemed to follow.

The party asked, hoping for infomration from soemone more spiritually minded, "So why does Hellion need this information?" She commiserated with the question, adding, "How does something become a god without understanding metaphysics?"

She clarified that she believed that Hellion is more than likely just a robot with some access to divine energy. "Well then how does a robot become a god?" the party asked.

The woman introduced herself as "Dinvaya" and explained that she used to be an adventurer. She can only speculate regarding how a robot obtained divine power, but she suspected that, perhaps, it has stolen it somehow.

Asked about the city, she explained that this wreck was unique because, for reasons that are not clear, the barbarians did not get around to burying it. The many, many barbarian mounds - some of them practically artificial mountains, are almost all the ruins of great metal structures, some of which are verifiably vessels of some sort - skyships.

3 days from now, the Lord of Rust will hold a competition at the scrapmaster's arena which will be an excellent way of gaining their interest.

Poing reiterated the cover story - "You're all hired mercenaries for me, and I'm trying to reach Hellion to obtain a steady stream of scrap flowing to Torch."

The party made their way to the east and encountered a darkfolk, who warned them about the Manticore that lived in the lair. "Saw it fly in probably 20 minutes ago." The party decided to look about first, and the Caligni praised their discretion and accepted a tip.

The party moved past the lair and realized that they were being pincered by ogres, who appeared to be circling the party. A total of 4 ogres. Poing and Thinghaver both predicted that the ogres were going to ambush the pary.
