The Fairweather is a four mast War Galleon owned by the tiefling pirate captain Lisella Gillan (tiefling Rogue 9). Gillan's first mate Seoni of Giechestire (elven Cleric of Erasmus 8, god of sailors), spotted the passage through the storm and the helmsman Chikchik (lizardfolk Fighter 4) was able to guide the ship through the passage into port. Along with thirty stout sailors, they were able to seize goods from the merchant district – primarily dry goods and general supplies – while fighting off a tribe of goblins and a few ragged (and apparently deranged) magic users. Although it was not apparent what had happened to the once mighty city, what was apparent was that the powerful archmagi who once watched over it were now nowhere to be found.

Lisella ordered her crew to keep their discovery secret, and sought to recruit adventurers to help her scour the city for wealth. Recruiting adventurers without alerting the entire world of her incredible find proved challenging, and a few loose tongues had to be silenced by extreme means. Even so, she was able to successfully recruit an initial team of adventurers for her purpose. Lisella does not believe the secret will hold for long – her intention is not to keep the secret of how Sarvinia's nature has changed to herself for long. As such, she hopes that her recruited adventurers are able to find the method by which the maelstrom has been opened and, in so doing, discover a way to selectively open and close it, granting her and her crew more or less exclusive rights to transport the plunder of the city – and, perhaps, the expansive nation beyond – for as long as possible.
